The University of Cambridge Local Examination Syndicate (UCLES) was established in 1857. Since then, UCLES International Examinations have developed steadily with worldwide recognizition. Every year, more than one million candidates sit for the Cambridge Examinations in more than 160 countries in the world. A Level is the 'gold standard' of Cambridge International Examinations.

Orient College is an advanced academic institution affiliated to Cambridge University, UK, working locally in close cooperation with British Council and Ministry of Education to provide A Level Programmes with academic excellence to our students. Orient has been running the programmes in international standard in its separate 'A Level Block' since 2003 A. D. Orient is proud of its A Level students for their outstanding performance. Nepal Top in Business Studies and 100% pass result with 75% 'A' grades in 2008 Exams are some examples of our success. In five years' journey, we possess a luminous history of glory and achievement in terms of overall performance. Our influencing quest is to set forth A Level graduates in the best possible blueprint. This is possible in Orient with dedicated and committed faculties recognized by CIE Board. Students are guided and instructed by experts in respective subjects. GCE A Level : Basic Information
  • »   A Level was started in Nepal in 1987 AD in Budanilakantha School.
  • »   About 23 institutions have been running A Level Program in Nepal now.
  • »   Students who have passed SLC or O level or equivalent exams can apply for A Level.
  • »   The A Level courses have been designed for two years.
  • »   Students can sit in exams twice a year i.e. May/June and Oct/Nov session.
  • »   The results are released within 2 months of final exams.
  • »   The examination officer of CIE directly sends examination certificates to
  • »   The center where the examination is taken.
  • »   A Level is equivalent to plus two of HSEB or PCL of Tribhuvan University.
  • »   Cambridge applicants are encouraged to study either four or five subjects but students taking four subjects will not be disadvantaged compared with those taking five subjects.
  • »   Students can appear for AS (core) level exam in first year and after successful completion of AS papers, they can sit for A2 (extension) level exam or can directly appear for A level exams after two years of study.

We believe in achievement through discipline. So we apply students' code of conduct very strictly. The college applies following aspects to students. Breaking of them results in immediate expulsion from the college and compensation for the damage caused by them.

Teaching Methodology

Faculty members at Orient emphasize on a realistic and practical approach for better understanding and competence in students' respective fields. The team of dedicated and experienced teaching staff applies special skills to motivate students with the latest and simplified methods. The precious instruction bestowed by Visiting and Guest Lecturers has enhanced the appreciation of interdisciplinary mode. In order to materialize the concept of effective teaching learning activities, audio-visual media are constantly employed to a considerable extent. Periodical workshops, symposiums, exchange programs and spiritual practices like yoga and meditation are other facets of our approach. We spare no effort to enable the young minds to be well informed, creative, critical, spiritual and responsible to the society and humanity at large.
